Teaching
Ryan is a faculty member at the Center for Young Musicians where he teaches Suzuki cello, piano, music literacy, and early childhood music. His studio maintains an active performing schedule and ages range from 3 to 62 years of age.
The five-year music literacy curriculum uses movement and games in a group setting to connect musical sound to written notation, and includes solfege, reading, dictation, harmony, and other theory concepts adapted for students beginning at ages 4-5. Early childhood music is a one to two-year course in which children ages 2½-5 participate in singing and movement activities alongside their parents to lay a foundation for pitch accuracy, rhythmic pulse, form, phrasing, ensemble skills, and class behavior. CYM offers lessons and classes in Wexford, Sewickley, and Shadyside. To find out more about the cello/piano studios and other programs, please consider attending an upcoming event, ask to observe a lesson, or visit www.youngmusicians.org.
